During the exchange, we will move from macro reflection, at European level, to micro reflection, at local level. The project will focus on the local environment and on the power that the participants’ actions can have on it: this was designed to connect the reflections on the great concepts (citizenship, European institutions, 2030 Agenda, etc.) with the daily activities of the youngsters. The exchange will take place in Ferrara: the city hosts IBO Italia headquarters and will allow participants to reflect on the project issues through the knowledge of several city realities.
Participants will project the ideas and experiences lived during the exchange on a physical model. The work aims at imagining and create an ideal and utopian city model that will represent the city of the future from the point of view of the participants. It will be constituted of many structures made from recycled material that will represent the most important elements for the wellbeing of a community, according to the participants. We will discuss the nature of the link we have with cities, what we like or dislike, what a city should be, what to create in a city and how we have influenced its creation process. There will be 5 working themes, one for each day: environment, active citizenship and volunteering, politics and European citizenship, sport, culture and leisure, inclusion and multiculturalism. Through group reflections and the different activities carried out in the exchange, the participants will have to propose a common vision of this city, which will be a mixture of their cultural background and what they will have found here: the project is based on the desire to enhance the diversity between cultures and societies.
The first objective of the project proposal will be to promote the mobility of young people and to give them a space for meeting and sharing. The project will lead participants to explore the culture of others, to compare differences and similarities in the specific sphere of city life but also in the life of youngsters in general. The experience of international mobility will allow them to acquire useful skills for personal development and employability.
Also, we will try to develop the commitment of young people in their community and to involve them in the democratic life of their country and in the European society.
The project wishes to raise awareness on the belonging to a European community, and to spread European sentiment among young people. To do this, we want to improve their knowledge on the European institutions and European democracy.
They will also learn a lot about the environment and the actual challenges and future challenges we will face. This is a topical issue and the level of awareness among the participants is rarely the same, depending on their cultural background and the development of the environmental issue in their home country. Environmental themes are a fundamental topic to be studied in depth, when working on life in an ideal city.

The success of the project refers primarily to what the participants found in it: they are the first recipients and first judges of the project action.
They will grow out of their exchange as they will have experienced otherness together with peers from different socio-cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, the teenagers will have developed greater awareness of Europe, of their own, about society and will have acquired a broad knowledge of current issues that deals with their future.
By following methodologies and activities of non-formal education, they will develop numerous key skills that will help them in their personal and professional achievements. Among those, they will acquire excellent relationship, social and communication skills in general as they will have to express themselves regularly on specific topics, requiring understanding various concepts and a particular terminology developed during the exchange. Therefore, they will surely improve their skills to express themselves in English. Participants will be given responsibility and autonomy during the exchange with a great freedom in the management of the activities -particularly for the realization of the model-and for common life activities. The exchange will also have to allow ideas to be implemented. The artistic expression will become easier as the ability to undertake projects alone.
